1. How hard is it to install
Church Office Helper v.3?
Installing from disks
Not hard at all. Installing from the CD
1. Place the CD in your CDROM drive
2. Select the 'Run' menu
3. In the run dialog box enter 'D:CH3-SETUP' where 'D:' is your CDROM
drive. If your CDROM drive is something other than D: then change it accordingly.
4. Click OK if a message"Missing Runtime Files will now be installed"
appears. A dBase splash screen will appear.
5. On the dBasePlus 2.21 Runtime Engine (and Borland Database Engine)
click 'Next' on the Destination Folder for the runtime files. Do not
change the destination folder.
6. Click 'Next' for the Destination Folder for BDE. Do not change the
destination folder.
7. Click Finish
8. It may take several seconds for the next screen to come up
- Welcome to the Church Office Helper Vers. 3.0 Setup Wizard. Click
'Next'
9. Click the 'I accept the agreement' and 'Next'
10. Note in the Readme.TXT file for default UserID and password.
In both cases the default is user. It is case sensitive. Change
this later (see SecuritySecurityLevels). Click 'Next'
11. Click 'Next' for the Start Menu folder
12. Click 'Install'
13. Click 'Finish'
To Install
from the download use the Run on the Start Menu
1. Select COH301.EXE from the download folder
2. Complete steps 4 to 13 above
The default location is the C:\COHelp3 folder. The program that activates
Church Office Helper is CMMS3.EXE.
2. How can I configure
for my church?
The first time you run Church Office Helper a Setup Wizard will
direct you through several screens to collect basic information, establish
initial lookup codes (financial accounts, group/committee/classes) and show
what some of the basic screens look like and what actions are required.
To change the configuration select 'Configuration' Menu' then
the appropriate menu option for the item to be changed including:
Church - specifics about the church, preferences
and defaults
Lookup Codes - Codes to speed data entry - financial accounts,
state, country, committees, interests
Custom Info - establish the names and other elements for
the information you want to collect specific to your association or club
Security - changing the user name, password and security
level.
3. What is the user
name and password to access the demo?
The user ID is 'user' and the password is 'user'.
These are case sensitive. You should plan to change these defaults
as soon as possible. See item above for location of changing theese
items.
4. Vistas compatibility
Use Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode
Vista has 'Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode'. This mode is created to prevent
the "This program might not have installed correctly" dialog box that shows
for applications that are hard coded to look for the XP version.
Set the 'Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode' by:
Right-click on an .exe name or shortcut - goto Properties
- under the Compatibility tab - apply the Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode
to allow the application to work as it did on Windows XP.
