1. How hard is it to install Membership Director?  

Installing from disks 

Not hard at all. Place the CD in your CDROM drive.  

In Windows95/98/ME/XP  

    1. Click the 'Start' button. 

    2. Click the 'Run' button. 

    3. If  you CDROM drive is 'D' enter D:MD2-SETUP for Membership Director or from your download folder. 

    4.  Click OK in the Membership Director v2.0
    5.  Click the 'Unzip' in the WinZip Extractor.
    6.  Click OK to the message 11 files Unzipped Succesfully
    7.  Click OK on the message Missing Runtime Files will now be installed.
    8.  On the dBasePlus 2.21 Runtime Engine screen (and BDE screen) click 'Next' on the Destination Folder for the runtime files.  Do not change destination. 
    9. Click 'Next' for the Destination Folder for BDE.  Do not change destination. 
    10.  Click Finish 
    11.  It may take a few seconds for the next screen to come up -  Welcome to the Membership Director Vers. 2.0 Setup Wizard.  Click 'Next' 
    12. Click the 'I accept the agreement' and 'Next' 
    13.  Note the Readme.TXT file - for UserID and password.  Click 'Next' 
    14.  Click 'Next' for the Start Menu folder 
    15.  Click 'Install' 
    16.  Click 'Finish'

The default location is the C:\memb_dir folder.  The tables are located in  C:\memb_dir\tables.  The program that activates Membership Director is MD2.EXE.  

 

2. How can I configure for my organization? 

The first time you run Membership Director a Setup Wizard will direct you through several screens to collect basic information, establish initial lookup codes (type of membership, financial accounts, contribution and other codes) and show what some of the basic screens look like and what actions are required.

To change the configuration select 'Configuration' Menu' then the appropriate menu option for the item to be changed including:
    
  Basic Organization - specifics about the association/club 
  Lookup Codes - Codes to speed data entry - type membership codes, state, country, committees, interests  
  Custom Info - establish the names and other elements for the information you want to collect specific to your association or club
   Security  - changing the user name, password and security level.

 

3.  What is the user name and password to access the demo?

The user ID is 'user' and the password is 'user'.  These are case sensitive.  You should plan to change these defaults as soon as possible.  See item above for location of changing theese items.
